Cordell Hull Lake Visitor Center and Dam Tour offers the public free guided tours of the Cordell Hull Dam Powerhouse and Lock. The tour is approximately two hours in length and provides information about Cordell Hull Lake’s unique history, project purposes, recreational opportunities, fish and wildlife benefits, as well as, an up-close look of the dam and powerhouse facilities.
The Cookeville History Museum provides exhibits, programs and activities that promote the history of the area. The museum houses a self-paced, permanent exhibit on the history of the community, including a timeline around the building that begins with the first people to the area and ends with what is happening today.
The Cookeville Depot Museum was built in 1909 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum houses many Tennessee Central Railway artifacts, as well as an HO scale replica of what Cookeville’s west side looked like in the summer of 1955. The grounds surrounding the museum are considered a park area where the museum has a static display consisting of a 1913 Baldwin steam engine, a 1920’s classic red caboose, a 1960’s caboose, and two small track cars.

Nearby Communities
Gainesboro is the Jackson County seat and is the county that Wildwood resides in. There is rich river history is this quaint town. A stroll along the streets around the historic courthouse will lead you past the sweet smells of a bakery, a couple of cozy cafes, an Irish pub and one of those old drug stores with icecream in the back.
Cookeville has it all. From great food, wineries and artisan brews to art, entertainment and shopping. It’s a university town with a small community vibe but with a cultural feel and with lakes, waterfalls and nature all around.
Gordonsville is located right off of I40 and is the closest community to Wildwood offering a selection of restaurants, cafe’s, fast food, gas, convenience stores and wine, beer and spirits.
Carthage is just a few miles upriver and down the road from Wildwood. This historic river community is filled with historic charm, antique stores, coffee shops, cafe’s and a one-of-a-kind tavern. Carthage is the closest community to Wildwood with a super Walmart.
