Tennessee's

Longest Boardwalk

You’ll never know who you’ll run into when you take a stroll on the boardwalk at Wildwood… happy couples, the Jackson County Mayor, families with their pets, performing artists from Nashville, someone vacationing from the UK, pro photographers and even early morning yoga enthusiasts that want to feel true Tennessee Zen. The wooden walkway stretches out into the lake for over a quarter of a mile. It is Tennessee’s longest waterfront boardwalk.

You can always count on passing a couple holding hands. There is just something so romantic about a boardwalk and it is almost like a magnetic force that somehow causes two hands to reach for each other when you begin the journey. This boardwalk has a prize at the end called the Sunset Pavilion and sunsets are just one of the great things you’ll discover out here. You are far enough out from the resort that most of the time you’ll only hear the sounds of nature. Often you’ll have the whole pavilion and comfy chairs all to yourselves too. The sunsets are paired nicely with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio or a warm cup of hot chocolate.

Play, Wade, Swim

At the Beach

Wildwood’s sandy beach on Cordell Hull Lake is the perfect place to take a dip, splash around and cool off. Several complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, a fire pit, and a tetherball pole are nearby. Feel free to bring along your own chairs, floats, and water toys too.
(There isn’t a lifeguard on duty, so please cool off with safety in mind.)

Walk in the Woods

Periwinkle Trail

Directly across the street from the entrance to Wildwood you’ll find the trailhead to the Periwinkle trail.  This gentle walking path is 2.75 mile long and is an out-and-back trail that follows the shore of Cordell Hull Lake and ends at Indian Creek Recreational Area.  On most Saturday’s Wildwood offers a free shuttle if you would like to hike the trail only one way.

Ping-pong, Bocce Ball

Horseshoes

Wildwood has a lighted Bocce Ball court and horseshoe pit up in the area called the Woods.  On most weekends during the summer, the Wildwood events team hosts friendly competitions and classes  with prizes, snacks and drinks.  There is also an outdoor ping-pong table near the Wisteria Pergola for hours of fun.

Kayak, Canoes

Paddling and Fishing

The Kayak barn at Wildwood is filled with every style of kayak and canoe that you can think of from single and tandem to fishing rigs.  Everything you need is included with your rental including paddles and lifejackets.  You can find a quiet cove in every direction.  We also have stand-up paddle boards too.

If you want to stay on shore and fish there are plenty of places including a fishing pier to cast out a line.

Inside & Outside

Games

There are host of yard games at Wildwood for our guests to enjoy including Bucket Golf, Giant Jenga, Corn Toss, and Croquet.  For those rainy days, you’ll find a shelf full of board games, card games and puzzles in the lobby.

Nightly

Bonfires

Elevate your stay at Wildwood by visiting any of our 13 fire pits. Complimentary firewood is provided, and upon check-in, we’ll supply you with roasting sticks and the essentials for s’mores so you can enjoy a cozy evening by the fire.
